Otto von Bismarck und seine Zeit
- Permanent Exhibition
The Otto von Bismarck Foundation invites you to a public tour of its permanent exhibition “Otto von Bismarck and his time” in the historic Friedrichsruh train station. The life and politics of the first Reich Chancellor are explained against the background of important developments in Germany in the 19th century. These include the nation-state movement, the rapid industrialization and the living situation of the workers, but also the economic rise of the bourgeoisie and the political work in the Reichstag. You can discover, among other things, the golden pen with which Bismarck signed the peace treaty with France in 1871, evidence of German colonial policy and bric-a-brac that illustrates the Bismarck myth. Bismarck's political successes as well as his failures become clear.
