Herbstwanderung auf der Altmoräne
- Excursions & Hikes
In the local history and subject matter classes at primary school, we dealt with the Ice Ages and the formation of Schleswig-Holstein - but what stuck with it?! During this approximately 9 km long natural history hike in one of the most beautiful corners of the Aukrug Nature Park, geologist and archaeologist Frigga Kruse (Friggas Natour) emphasizes that our region was formed in the penultimate ice age and has been subject to erosion and leveling for 100,000 years. We can no longer boast the drama of the eastern hill country, but anyone who engages with our solid landscape with patience and observation will learn to appreciate it and experience surprises. The Nindorfer ridge is a considerable moraine in the Hohe Geest of Middle Holstein, which divides the catchment areas of the Eider and Stör rivers. Burial graves show that the people of the Bronze Age knew where to keep their feet dry. Frigga Kruse underlines the history of our Geest with local legends.
