An exploration by and with children
When does imitation actually become fun?
We all learn by imitation – in school, in language, in art. But those who are called "copycats" are usually considered to lack their own ideas.
IMITATION celebrates repetition as a creative, exploratory and collaborative practice.
Based on the concept of imitation (2025), two primary school classes in Hamburg are now testing how existing artistic formats can be repeated – and reinvented in the process.
Ten artistic formats will once again be presented, discussed, and curated by the students themselves. Which projects do they want to repeat, modify, or completely rethink? Guided by the artists Teresa L. Rosenkrantz, Kirsten Bremehr, and Anne Pretzsch, a shared research space for artistic exploration and participation will be created once again.
