Julia Barthe und Isabel Moreton

L'amour et le printemps
Chamber music for soprano and harp
Julia Barthe and Isabel Moreton present works by classical and early Romantic composers, most of which were originally written for soprano and harp.
Around 1800, the harp, along with the piano, were part of the education of noble or middle-class daughters in both France and England. In Germany, however, the harp was less popular, and so we also present songs by German composers that were originally written for piano.
You'll hear works by Hariette Abrams, Maria Malibran, Louise Reichardt and others. Most of these composers are largely unknown today. In her time, however, the Spanish singer Maria Malibran was so famous that 50,000 people lined the streets when she died at the age of 28.
Julia Barthe has been active in the Hamburg chamber music scene for more than 35 years. She has been making music with Isabel Moreton since the early 1990s.
Isabel Moreton is a harpist, educator, lecturer in harp methodology/didactics, juror for national and international competitions and chairwoman of the Association of Harpists in Germany. She is also the editor of a sheet music edition with works by female composers at Furore-Verlag Kassel
