Guitar Celebration
Ian Melrose (folk, world music) - Nikos Tsiachris (flamenco, classical) - Rüdiger Krause (jazz, blues)

Emotional and fascinating - The guitar, one of the most played and versatile instruments of our time, will sound again in all its facets on May 18, 2024 on the stage of the Kulturkirche Altona.

With new solo, duo and trio arrangements from classical, jazz, pop, rock, blues, flamenco and world music and with great joy in playing, the three international virtuosos Ian Melrose (Scotland), Rüdiger Krause (Germany) and Nikos Tsiachris (Greece ) their strings sound again. The wistful, melancholic expanse of a Celtic ballad transforms into a fiery Spanish buleria; an intense blues becomes fast-paced Balkan jazz.

Since their last visit to the Kulturkirche Altona three years ago, some new arrangements and compositions have been created - both solo and in duos and trios, which they will present to us.

Complemented by great interpretations of well-known classics, from Bach to Albeniz to Henry Mancini and Laurie Johnson (with umbrella, charm & bowler hat...), the trio proves once again, with an irrepressible desire for tonal beauty and improvisation, why the guitar is one of the most popular in the world instruments is.
