Watch the starry sky on the Heidschnuckenweg
The Südheide Observatory offers a public evening of observing the starry sky with expert support in the open air. The Heidschnuckenweg is particularly suitable for this, as the Lüneburg Heath still has some of the darkest spots in all of Germany and light pollution is very low. There are hardly any disturbing environmental influences, which means fantastic observation conditions.
The Südheide Observatory Association sets up several mobile telescopes of different designs directly on the Missehorner Heide, which are looked after by the Sternfreunde. They introduce various celestial objects and explain them, e.g. B. the planet Saturn and the autumn constellations. Questions from participants are welcome.
The event starts at 8 p.m. and is free. Donations support the association and are gladly accepted.
The meeting point is at the Misselhorner Heide hiking car park, which is on the K 17, approx. 1.5km after Hermannsburg in the direction of Unterlüß. The parking lot is signposted. From there it goes a few meters into the heath area directly at the hiking car park.
Registration is not required.
Make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather and temperatures, as the nights can be very cool.
Note: If it rains or is cloudy, the event will unfortunately have to be canceled at short notice. You can find current information on the Südheide Observatory website
