The music of Johann Sebastian Bach forms the starting point for this extraordinary concert evening. His chorales open up a sonic space that enters into a dialogue with the present. Step by step, new perspectives on Bach unfold – reflected, expanded and guided in surprising sonic directions. The marimba becomes a singing voice that takes up Bach’s music and carries it forward. From this dialogue emerge nine world premieres of new works, composed especially for this project. »Light and Abyss« invites you to hear Johann Sebastian Bach anew and to experience the present as a natural continuation of his music.
