If you like, Hamburg shows you many different facets of musical stage entertainment: The State Opera, for example, is one of the oldest stages in the city, but it not only performs classics, it also commissions new compositions. At the Kammeroper, the ensemble is particularly keen to create its own German-language versions for rarely performed pieces. The Opernloft, on the other hand, only opened in the early 200s: here, performances are staged around the audience. The Hamburg Ballet impresses with first-class ballet performances under the direction of the famous choreographer John Neumeier.
