Opernloft

Opera can be awesome - but only in the opera loft! Because here every opera is a special event. Here every opera lasts a refreshing 90 minutes. And only here can you look directly from the theatre hall onto the Elbe.

The stylish theatre was built into the terminal of the former English ferry. Generous glass surfaces provide a view of the Elbe and the sunset. High ceilings and state-of-the-art technology make it possible to experience the finest opera.

In the opera loft, the whole evening is a pleasure. You will hear the wonderful voices of radiant sopranos and beguiling tenors, of melancholic mezzo-sopranos and enchanting baritones. You will sit in a unique water position with a good glass of wine, which you can of course take with you into the hall. In our bistro you can also order a crispy tarte flambée. And if in Hamburg the ships are ringing and the evenings are warm, then enjoy everything on our large terrace directly at the Waterkant.

The artistic idea of the opera loft is unique in Germany and has won several awards. The creative team creates its own arrangements, develops new formats such as the successful crime thrillers or cult pieces such as the Opern-Slam "Sängerkrieg" which is like a poetry slam but with opera singers. Great operas are concentrated to the emotional core. In old stories the music theatre at the Elbe finds the current, in world-famous melodies the human touching. The opera loft discovers something special in order to surprise you again and again.

And: it takes you on a journey. Just as the terminal was once the beginning of a seafaring trip, the Opera Loft also takes you with it - to an Italian trattoria near Puccini's Tosca, to the casino with La Traviata or to the art world of Paris with La Bohème.

The location alone is a total work of art with a goose bumps effect. In addition, the touching melodies of the great opera composers, interpreted by the most beautiful voices of their ensemble. And then the lights of the harbour - nothing more is possible! The three directors, who are your personal hosts every evening, and the great team, who make the esprit of this theatre tangible in every situation, welcomes you to the Opernloft.
