MS DOCKVILLE Festival
A launchpad for success: for many musicians Hamburg has served as the stepping stone for an international music career. The most famous example is of course the lads from Liverpool, aka the Beatles. Hamburg draws on a rich and colourful tradition of rock and pop music. Of course the live clubs of St Pauli play an important role here, with the Reeperbahn Festival featuring over 500 bands from all over the world each year. And yet there is much more to Hamburg’s live music scene than the Reeperbahn entertainment mile, which attracts 30 million visitors annually. Rock and pop concerts can be experienced in an array of venues, among them Fabrik, Markthalle, Kampnagel, Knust, Grosse Freiheit 36, Docks, Grünspan, Molotow, and the Mojo Club as well as about 125 other live music clubs. Large venues include e.g. the Stadtpark and the Barclaycard Arena, inviting newcomers and global stars to perform live on stage. Every little gig, every concert and every cheering crowd demonstrates the amazing diversity of Hamburg’s live music scene.
