More magic per minute at Harry Potter
Since December 2021, you can experience the award-winning play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" exclusively in German. At Hamburg's Theatre am Großmarkt in Hamburg, the production was performed in two parts. Now two parts will become one. What does that mean in concrete terms? The show will now last three and a half hours including intermission instead of five and a half. The one-part theatre production, which has already enjoyed success outside Europe, convinces with more magic per minute thanks to its spectacular effects. The plot remains just as captivating as the original.
What happened after the Deathly Hallows?
After "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", the popular saga about the wizard with the lightning scar came to an end for the time being. What will life be like for Harry and his friends after they defeat Voldemort? This is where "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" picks up. Based on a new original story by franchise author J.K. Rowling, screenwriter Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany, it is set decades after the last "Harry Potter" book and film.
Time reversers, Harry's cloak of invisibility, magical duels and the forbidden forest. During the play we dive back into the magical world of Harry Potter. Harry, Ron and Hermione are parents of children who are as brave and adventurous as they once were themselves. Arriving at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry's son Albus quickly befriends arch-rival Draco Malfoy's son Scorpius; they come into possession of a rare time reverser and attempt to erase a dark stain on Harry's heritage.
Two parts become one
The compact version of the play makes no compromises and convinces with more magic, while the plot remains the same at its core. Thanks to the reduced duration, you can now attend the performance in the afternoon or evening. Don't worry: there will still be time to drink a butterbeer or to equip yourself with merchandise in the colours of your house. There is an intermission halfway through the show. The adjusted length also makes the play more affordable and family-friendly - perfect for an afternoon or evening of magic. Where are the best seats at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?
Basically, you have an excellent view of the action on stage from all seats. If you sit at the front, you can see the actors' facial expressions and costumes particularly well. From the high stalls or the balcony, you have a wonderful view of the entire action. From row 14 onwards, the seats rise, which can be more advantageous for smaller people and children. There is plenty of legroom in the balcony or high stalls.
