A magical place in Bergedorf? A place of magic also in Bergedorf? Hamburg's only preserved castle embedded in a beautiful park is the landmark of the Bergedorf district. Between the underground stations Rödingsmarkt and Baumwoll there is the unique old Deichstraße, which looks very similar to Diagon Alley. When you walk up the grand staircase in the entrance area to the gallery, the sight is truly enchanting.

The observatory in Bergedorf, built around 1900, is a cultural-historically significant ensemble of international rank consisting of listed buildings and a stock of valuable telescopes. With its many full bookcases, spiral staircases and numerous binoculars, the Hamburg Observatory could also be Dumbledore's office.

Directly on the grounds of Hogwarts lies the great lake, in which not only an octopus lives, but also Grindelohs are up to their mischief. In the middle of the Eppendorf Moor lies a large lake, where it doesn't take much imagination to suspect magical creatures there. The inner-city moor is a nature reserve and home to many endangered species. Here you can take a nice walk and let the magic of nature work its magic on you.

A forest in the middle of the city - that's the Niendorf enclosure. With a network of 15 kilometres of hiking trails and huge open spaces, it is not only squirrels that can be observed here. Wild enclosures such as deer, roe deer and foxes often pass by the roadside. And when it's foggy, the forest with the old trees seems simply mystical and at the same time eerily beautiful that you think you'll meet Hagrid and Fang right at the next crossroads.

With which animal does Harry Potter make his first encounter into the magical world? The snowy owl Hagrid is the first friend of Harry Potter. At Hagenbecks Tierpark, the privately run zoo in its 6th generation, is just as an important part of Hamburg like as the Michel, the harbour and the new Elbphilharmonie. 1,850 animals have found a home in a botanically diverse park.
