Art house cinema was born in the Abaton cult cinema in Hamburg’s Grindel district.

With over 220,000 visitors per year, the Abaton is not simply a cinema, but a meeting place for cultural exchange. Its bar provides visitors with popcorn, cola and wine, as well as cake and coffee. The Pony Bar next door is perfect for a cosy nightcap.
The programme includes major pictures, minor pictures - and blockbusters.
Our tip because... ...the diverse films and affectionate charm in the Abaton inspires every visitor!

CITY AREA PORTRAIT Eimsbüttel & Eppendorf

Here, one can find magnificent old building façades, local and exquisite restaurants as well as fancy boutiques and owner-operated shops. While Eppendorf is rather fancy, one can feel the hanseatic serenity in Eimsbüttel. Both districts offer much green and water and are hence with good reason very popular neighbourhoods in Hamburg.
