Hamburg Film Festival

Film culture in Hamburg's cinemas

Filmfest Hamburg will be celebrating its 32nd anniversary in 2024. Every year in the fall, it delights countless cinema fans over ten days on ten screens with around 70 national and international feature films and documentaries as world premieres, European premieres or German premieres.

As early as 1992, the first film festival was held in Hamburg. Exactly 11 years later, with Albert Wiederspiel taking office, the first MICHEL Children and Youth Film Festival took place in 2003.

In 2024, Filmfest Hamburg will take place from September 26 to October 5, for the first time under the direction of Malika Rabahallah. For the 32nd edition, the event will take place in the cinemas Abaton, Metropolis, Passage, CinemaxX Dammtor and Studio-Kino, the latter being the new venue for MICHEL Kinder und Jugend Filmfest.
