Go out in the evening, enjoy a glass of wine or beer and learn something at the same time.

Topic: Is the Gulf Stream running out of steam?
The Gulf Stream ensures a comparatively mild climate in Northern Europe and is considered to be its heat pump. Speculations crop up at irregular intervals, and they are not without drama: Could the Gulf Stream soon break down? And would we then be facing an ice age? We want to approach these and other questions on the basis of the current state of science. We also want to clarify the state of the North Atlantic, what effects of climate change we are already seeing and what we can say about the possible development of the climate in Europe.
This evening is part of the event series “Knowledge on Tap”, organized by the DESY research center and the University of Hamburg. They are supported by the Clusters of Excellence “CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter” and “Quantum Universe”, as well as PIER, the strategic partnership between DESY and the University of Hamburg.
Admission is free. We look forward to seeing you.
