One of Georgia’s legendary vocal ensembles is coming to the Elbphilharmonie for the first time: the Shavnabada Choir from Tbilisi. Under the baton of David Tsintsadze, the ensemble unfolds the full power and delicacy of Georgian polyphonic singing, recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage: complex melismatic chants, lyrical songs, the breathtaking Guruli yodelling style »Krimanchuli«, Christian and pre-Christian hymns, accompanied by the sound of centuries-old instruments. Joining them on stage as guests: Liza Bagrationi, one of Georgia’s most beloved voices, and Nato Metonidze, star of the Georgian Estrada. An evening of raw power and grace.
