Ludwig van Beethoven and star pianist Igor Levit have a very special relationship. The depth of their bond certainly goes beyond mere coincidence and Levit is now considered to be a leading interpreter of Beethoven’s works. At ProArte, he will present all 32 sonatas by the Viennese master in an eight-part concert series during the 2026/27 and 2027/28 seasons. Levit believes he has a much stronger connection to Beethoven than to other composers. »He writes the most deeply human music. More than anyone else, he integrates all the character, emotions and thoughts that make us human into his music. He created music for us and about us.« The seventh concert in his Beethoven cycle features one of the longest and most technically demanding sonatas in music history: the »Hammerklavier« Sonata.
