As cultural ambassadors for Poland, the Poznań Boys’ Choir brings the musical traditions of their homeland to Hamburg. The famous voices from Poznań (Posen) present an evening brimming with unique radiance and captivate audiences worldwide with their incomparable sound and repertoire.
With its forty voices, the Boys’ Choir originates from Poland’s first and only choir school and captivates with a powerful male choir sound as well as angelic soprano voices and soloists, who, under the direction of choir director Dr Jacek Sykulski, develop a distinctive, incomparable sound. The Poznań Boys’ Choir’s flagship repertoire consists of tailor-made works by Sykulski himself. The choir director, composer and arranger is in high demand on the international choral scene and has been awarded the Polish Golden Cross of Merit, amongst other honours, for his achievements.
The programme features an impressive range of music from classical to pop: a cappella works by Johann Michael Bach, John Trotta and George Frideric Handel, 13th-century melodies, and motets by Rachmaninoff, Łukaszewski and Sykulski are performed in a mystical, rousing and heart-warming style. Pop melodies in unique arrangements, such as from »The Lion King« or the world-famous »Ameno«, as well as well-known folk songs from both Poland and Germany, also provide a rousing variety.
