In view of the numerous global crises, which are often associated with challenging communication, a small parallel world in which international networking takes place offers a welcome contrast. The contact and exchange with musicians from all continents gives the Norddeutsches ZupfOrchester the opportunity to travel the world musically this year.
Richard Charlton will whiskthe audience away to the Brisbane River, Claudio Mandonico will tell stories that combine Irish and Italian myths, Aris Alexandros Blettenberg will conjure up the most beautiful Greek islands before our inner eye and Dominik Hackner will have us swaying to South American rhythms.
For the first time, the Youngsters-Teens will not only present their successful rehearsal work with their own performance at the concert, but some of these young people will also be making music in the NZO itself.
The more than 30 amateur musicians of the Norddeutsches ZupfOrchester from all generations meet weekly to work on varied concert programmes. The orchestra delights its many fans at its concerts several times a year and has made a name for itself beyond the borders of Hamburg for over 60 years for its captivating music-making on plucked instruments (mandolin, mandola, guitar and bass).
The association’s extensive youth work under the direction of Steffen Trekel has now resulted in a children’s and a youth orchestra.
