When musical legends come together, the result is an evening of rare brilliance: For the opening of the 2026 Martha Argerich Festival Hamburg, Martha Argerich will bring together a lineup of exceptional artists on stage at the Laeiszhalle. Together with Mischa Maisky, Maxim Vengerov, Gil Shaham, Michael Volle, Daniel Arkadij Gerzenberg, and Haggai Cohen-Milo, among others, a program unfolds that blends classical mastery with improvisational freedom.
Works by Johannes Brahms and Ludwig van Beethoven meet jazz soundscapes inspired by Frédéric Chopin, which double bassist and composer Haggai Cohen-Milo describes as »a playful, top-tier act of musical experimentation,« »a trio project that asks what happens when Chopin’s musical DNA meets improvisation, rhythm, memory, and mischief.« The result is a dynamic dialogue between eras and styles, the highlight of which is the opening of the festival series with Beethoven’s violin sonatas, performed by Vengerov and Argerich.
An opening night that transcends boundaries and celebrates music as a living, pulsating experience.
