Citizens and guests are invited to be there every evening at 5 p.m. when a little door opens somewhere across the city. Where and when this takes place is determined by the red foils on houses, doors and windows, which bear the numbers 1 to 24.

The hosts always have a surprise in store for their guests. Pastors and church leaders are also present. They read Christmas stories with confirmands. There will be singing and music - a contemplative half hour, a short break from everyday stress with lights, glitter and a pre-Christmas atmosphere.
