Junge Segel-Kunst aus Glückstadt Exhibition

What would you paint or draw to inspire your friends to sail? The Glückstadt Sailing Association (SVG) posed this question to the students of the Bürgerschule (community school). As part of the annual art week, five elementary school classes embraced this inspiration and let their creativity run wild.
The third-graders' colorful designs were dominated by motifs such as waves, sun, and sailboats. Bold color combinations, clear shapes, and lively compositions captivated the eye and piqued curiosity about water sports. The young artists painted and drew the pictures with great joy and proudly presented them.
The SVG plans to use the award-winning works as posters and flyers to invite visitors to the youth group's open house this fall. The exhibition of the paintings also marked a special moment: The works were first admired in April at the sailing association's clubhouse. Now they're continuing their journey—to the Detlefsen Museum—where a wider audience is invited to appreciate the children's impressive paintings and be inspired by their perspective on sailing.
The exhibition can be seen in the studio of the Detlefsen Museum until November 2nd.
