It all started in 1998 as a summer party at the legendary “Headbangers Ballroom” in Hamburg with three bands on a small tractor trailer. Nowadays, guests not entirely wrongly call Headbangers Open Air the “largest metal garden party in the world” with around 2,000 visitors.
The venue is a former farm in the countryside. There is a small metal market as well as a family meet & greet with the bands in the party tent. In 2024 we will celebrate the 26th edition of the HOA
A total of 28 bands will perform, mostly traditional heavy metal. The top bands for 2024: Sodom, Armored Saints, Kingdom of Madness, Brian Downey`s Alive and Dangerous, Evil Invaders, Screamer and many more.
