Klabauter Theatre

The repertoire of the Klabauter Theatre's inclusive ensemble includes both its own plays and adapted well-known plays.

Artistic and at the height of our time

The Klabauter Theatre stands for modern, contemporary theatre with an ensemble of 13 actors* with disabilities. Together with changing director teams and guest actors from the independent scene, the ensemble develops theatre evenings on contemporary topics, emotional and artistic, diverse and at the cutting edge of our time. Founded in 1998, the Klabauter Theatre with its 80 seats in a central location at the Berliner Tor has developed into an address in Hamburg's theatre landscape where diversity is at home and the audience can participate in artistic events that move and inspire.

Open for interested

The Klabauter Theatre is also open as a performance venue for guest performances and festivals. School classes, seminars and other groups can get to know the work of the ensemble in workshops and public rehearsals and thus gain insights into the professional rehearsal processes. The theatre has already received several awards for its work. Since 2019, it has been recognized as a professional stage and is funded as a private theatre by the Authority for Culture and Media of the City of Hamburg. The Klabauter Theatre is part of the Work and Education department within the Das Rauhe Haus Foundation.

Thalia Gaussstrasse

The Gaußstraße is an annexe of the Thalia Theatre and at the same time district theatre of Hamburg Altona – open to all from Greater Hamburg, but with a strong connection to the creative melting pot Altona consisting of workers, members of the middle class and an increasingly intercultural society.
