Funny, political satire and big names from Germany’s cabaret scene perform daily in Alma Hoppe’s Lustspielhaus.
The stage for politically satirical cabaret, also called: The Institute for satirical explosives. The programme is overwhelmingly put on by the house ensemble with its own productions. The beginnings of the Lustspielhaus reach back to 1984 and the active student cabaret scene. In the meantime, the ensemble has become one of northern Germany’s established satire institutions.
70,000 guests per year are proof: In Alma Hoppe’s Lustspielhaus, numerous people amuse themselves time and time again with top-class political satire. The productions, overwhelmingly written and performed by the house itself, never give the audience’s laugh muscles a break. Built in 1927 and used as Alma Hoppe’s Lustspielhaus since 1994, the space now offers a foyer, a performance hall and a café. The doors of the Lustspielhaus open every evening at 8 p.m. With 350 seats and 280 performances per year, there’s enough variety for everyone.
