The Gaumenganoven (“palate villain”) have taken up quarters in the Ottensener Zeisehallen until further notice. Their special culinary coup: "Dinger"... or in English, “things”. "Dinger" are balls of dough fried in a special Asian pan, served with salad and crowned with subtly balanced toppings. The Gaumenganoven developed this symbiosis of Japanese takoyaki and Dutch poffertjes themselves. Dinger are available with different fillings from the worlds of fish, meat and vegetables, sourced from the local region and crafted into products with loving care. Six per portion are plated up – a filling meal for only eight euros.

Though TV chef Tim Mälzer himself doesn't preside over the stove at this temple of flavour on the Alster’s banks, his handwriting is all over the concept – from the uncluttered interior and skilfully casual service to the love of detail in the open kitchen. The team uses local produce to conjures up playful Japanese dishes with a Hanseatic note. The changing lunch menu is complemented by permanent signature dishes and a varied salad bar. In the evenings a main dish costs between 14 and 24 euros. Except for the exclusive Wagyu beef, which weighs in at 65 euros.
