Hilde Leiss
Hilde Leiss offers extravagant jewellery and unusual works of art in one of Hamburg's oldest office buildings.
A few grams of precious metal too much rather than just one too little: with this credo and her penchant for extravagant, massive pieces of jewellery, master goldsmith Hilde Leiss has been setting standards in her jewellery gallery for over 25 years.
In one of the oldest office buildings in the Hanseatic city, the artist, who was awarded the coveted Karl Schneider Prize in 2001, presents her own collections as well as works by colleagues: angular gold rings by Jordi Peralta, bracelets made of reinforced paper by Nel Linnsen or lavish necklaces made of ebony and amethyst by Gerda Monies. There are also hand-turned wooden objects, small glass or ceramic statues and textile works of art such as Elke Walter's folded dresses or Angela Wandelt's geometric hat creations.
