Chilehaus

The Chilehaus whose top is reminiscent of a ship's prow was constructed in 1922-1924 for the Hamburg businessman Henry Brarens Sloman according to a design by Fritz Höger, and was named after the country where Sloman traded for three decades.

The ten-storey high Chilehaus (with 2800 windows!) became his architect's signature piece and is one of the most significant examples of Expressionism.
