Maritime Tour - Port of Hamburg

Reason enough to celebrate it every year in May with the biggest harbour festival. Start your maritime tour of Hamburg's harbour at the ‘Baumwall’ underground station. Your first stop is St Michael's Church. At 132 metres high, the tower of St. Michael's is the landmark of the Hanseatic city. It is worth climbing its 453 steps. From the top, you have a fabulous view over Hamburg and the harbour. An important means of transport to get to the harbour is the U3 line, Hamburg's oldest underground line.

Those who prefer to explore the harbour first will find impressive ships not far from the Landungsbrücken, such as the Feuerschiff or the Cap San Diego, which tell the story of maritime history. The ELBJAZZ Festival is held every year opposite the Landungsbrücken. If you want to get to the other side of the Elbe, you can use the Elbe ferries or the old Elbe tunnel to cross under the Elbe on foot. Culinary delights are served at the Altona fish market, where every Sunday morning there is a hustle and bustle and everyone wants to get their hands on the freshest fish. Refreshed, you can now stroll along the Elbe to Stilwerk. The restored building of an old malthouse is home to a theme centre for furnishings, design and lifestyle. End your walk through the harbour at DOCKLAND. From the viewing platform of the eye-catching office building, you have an impressive view over the harbour facilities and the Süderelbe.
