The former branch of the Elbe, the Alte Süderelbe, has developed into a bay-rich body of still water. The two nature reserves Finkenwerder Süderelbe and Westerweiden comprise the most beautiful and near-natural area.
From one side of the main road Neßdeich, you can watch the Beluga take off and land on the Airbus runway. On the other side, you can look out over the waters framed by reeds and tall shrubs, remnants of riparian forest and the lush meadows and pastures of the two nature reserves.
