Experience culture. Poetry Slam in Hamburg

Hamburg stands for art and culture through and through. And over the years, poetry slams have gained a firm place in Hamburg's cultural programme. Those who want to see young lyrical talents have the opportunity to do so in Hamburg almost every week. The young poet scene meets here regularly on stage to compete and inspire the audience. And with the "artistic duels", the city even has its own unofficial championship. Here, you'll find an overview of current events and the most frequent venues.

Art of Impossible — an intimate evening of theatrical magic and self-discovery.

"Art of Impossible" is an exclusive evening of theatrical magic by Dr. Alex Romanoff, magician and historian.

Hosted in Hamburg’s Zaubermuseum Bellachini – a private collection curated by Wittus Witt – the show takes you on a journey through the art and history of magic. Blending storytelling, humour, and participation, Dr. Romanoff explores why humans are drawn to the impossible and how our perception of mystery reveals something about ourselves.

This is not a traditional magic show but an interactive cultural experience where amazement meets reflection. Whether you come with a partner, a friend, or family, it’s a night for adults who enjoy intelligent entertainment and meaningful conversation — an evening that combines curiosity, laughter, and discovery.

Limited to only 20 guests, each performance creates a rare closeness between artist and audience.

Moderation: Sibylle Mayr and Avid Saeed (Jury, BBK Hamburg)

For this year’s members exhibition of the Professional Association of Visual Artists Hamburg, a jury of five experts selected thirty artistic positions from 145 submissions. System Error: Human? compiles works that explore the fragile, the unfinished and the contradictory. Between analogue material and the digital code, between earth, fabric, metal and pixels, they negotiate questions of control, loss and new beginnings. They display breaks as transitions, cracks as openings, irritations as starting points for new forms of coexistence. The exhibition thus becomes a polyphonic plea for the productive power of the error – and for art as a field where orientation is continually being re-created.

In the talk, the invited artists shed light on their position and provide insights into their working methods. Different perspectives and backgrounds open up a variety of approaches to the exhibition title System Error: Human?

With his masterfully composed Vespers Liturgy for choir a cappella, Rachmaninov transports the listener into a musical world of admirable depth and inwardness. Inspired by old modes, he created one of his most beautiful works. The »All-Night Vigil«, composed in 1915 for a benefit concert in Moscow in aid of war victims, takes up the fascinating tradition of Orthodox chants and reflects it profoundly. At the same time, Rachmaninov created a musical monument to his childhood memories and the religious soul of his homeland – a homeland he would soon leave. Rachmaninov himself described listening to his vesper liturgy as »an hour of the happiest satisfaction«.
