An International Art Exhibition at Pashmin Art Gallery, Hamburg

21 NOVEMBER 2026 — 20 JANUARY 2027 · HAMBURG

What happens when three distinct artistic visions meet between the pages of books and the walls of a gallery? From 21 November 2026 to 20 January 2027, Pashmin Art Gallery presents “Three Artists, Three Books, Three Worlds”, bringing together Reinhard Hanke (Germany), Andrea Donner (Switzerland), and Peter Backhaus (Sweden) in an encounter spanning painting, philosophy and the written word.

For Hanke, art begins with looking beneath appearances. His approach, which he calls “structural realism”, moves between abstraction and recognizable forms, questioning how we perceive and interpret reality. The publication “Auf Hoffnung gebaut” (“Built on Hope”) reveals an artist for whom creativity is inseparable from resilience and renewal.

Donner works at the intersection of material, memory and consciousness. Using pigment, wax, ash and other elements, she gives form to experiences that resist straightforward explanation. Her book “Die Kunst des Daseins” (“The Art of Being”) extends this inquiry into presence, inner awareness and the possibilities of change.

Backhaus brings a contrasting intensity. His gestural, color-charged paintings balance spontaneity with reflection, stillness with turbulence. In “Im Sturm der Farben” (“In the Storm of Colors”), viewers encounter his journey from figurative painting toward a language of abstraction, shaped by an enduring belief in art’s transformative force.

All three art books are published in bilingual German–English editions. Andrea Donner’s “The Art of Being” has also been published as a separate Chinese-language volume.

Together, the three books invite visitors to look beyond individual artworks and explore the ideas, experiences and creative journeys behind them. Their distinct approaches create a dialogue between structure, inner experience and unrestricted expression. The exhibition offers three perspectives, yet one shared conviction: art can open new ways of seeing and being.

The opening reception takes place on Saturday, 21 November 2026, at 7:00 p.m., with live music by Florian Noack and the artists in attendance. The exhibition is curated by Nour Nouri, while art lecturer Dr. Davood Khazaie will discuss the artists, their artistic journeys, and the creative process behind the publication of the three accompanying art books.
