The Young ClassX Chöre & Orchester / Igor Levit Concerts

Classical music reigns supreme, and Queen is there too! Five youth ensembles and orchestras will take to the stage with pianist Igor Levit on this evening, including the Fanny Mendelssohn Youth Orchestra, the Moses Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra from the Mendelssohn Orchestra family, and the best singers from The Young ClassX choir.

Why is the concert project »Macht!Musik!« so unique? In addition to the musical pieces they have rehearsed, the young people will present their own written contributions on the themes of power, conflict, and reconciliation. Furthermore, it bridges the gap—no, several gaps—between centuries, between choir and orchestral music, between school and stage, between well-known, stage-tested pianists and young musicians, some of whom are performing on the grand stage of the Elbphilharmonie for the first time. Will you be there when the last note of Shostakovich’s piano concerto fades away and Queen sings »Don’t Stop Me Now«?

The Young ClassX e.V. was founded by the Otto Group and the Salut Salon ensemble. Since 2008, the music promotion program has reached over 40,000 children and young people with choir and orchestra projects as well as MusikMobil trips – and stands for an energy that, in the spirit of »Don’t Stop Me Now,« opens up creative freedom for young people.
