Despite, or perhaps precisely because of, these turbulent times, the concert inspires us to embrace utopia! How can we dream again? What will the day after tomorrow sound like? What makes our hearts beat? These are the questions addressed by the world premiere of the third »Social Symphony«, which will be the highlight of the TONALi Festival 2026 at the Elbphilharmonie.
In five movements, the third »Social Symphony« offers answers full of mysterious comfort, courageous surprises and original imagination: musicians and audience experience an unforgettable concert together, in which music, space and all participants resonate with one another. What happens on stage begins weeks earlier in the city: in numerous small encounters in a slow dating format, Hamburg residents meet each other – from I to you to we!
From 15:00 to 17:45, a variety of 15-minute 1:1 CONCERTS will take place at special venues in the backstage area of the Elbphilharmonie. Time slots can be booked in advance via https://1to1concerts.de/projekte/1to1-soziale-symphonie. From 19:00, personal one-to-one meetings in the foyer of the Grand Hall will also provide an opportunity for conversation.
The »Social Symphony« is curated by Franziska Ritter and Christian Siegmund (1:1 Concerts). Together with the asambura ensemble, students from the TONALi Stage Academy, young people from the TONALi Audience Academy and artists from the city, they explore how many small moments of connection can create a large collective experience – a Social Symphony.
