Queer History Month
QueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1st to 31st, 2026 (www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events within the festival will bring the history (and stories) of the queer community in Hamburg to life. Everyone is welcome – Kings, Quings, Queens, Allies, Friends, (chosen) Families, and everyone in between and beyond!
Event
The film PRIDE shows how queer activists and trade unions live solidarity together – then as now.
ver.di queer Hamburg invites you to a film evening. The film "PRIDE" will be shown – a moving story about solidarity between the queer community and the trade union movement.
The film tells the true story of a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money for striking miners and their families during the British miners' strike of 1984/85. Initial skepticism gave rise to an unexpected, powerful alliance – and a striking example of how solidarity can transcend social boundaries.
This story in particular shows why cooperation between the queer movement and trade unions is important: discrimination, social insecurity and working conditions affect many people not only in the workplace, but also in their everyday lives.
Colleagues in the QUEER group have also been active in ver.di for many years. Because our private lives don't end at the office door or the factory gate – experiences with diversity, discrimination, or social acceptance also affect our working lives.
With this film evening, we would like to take a look together at this special story of solidarity, discuss it, and celebrate Queer History Month in Hamburg with an open, solidarity-based evening at the trade union club.
We look forward to welcoming all interested parties!
