The Kawai concert series at the Alfred Schnittke Academy in Hamburg is embarking on a new season.

The renowned piano manufacturer Kawai—whose European headquarters are located in Krefeld—dedicates this series to fostering outstanding young talent performing on the Shigeru Kawai grand piano.

With a keen eye for artistic potential, the series offers young virtuosos a prestigious stage on their path to international careers and introduces the piano elite of tomorrow to Hamburg audiences.

The renowned Kawai concert series in Hamburg kicks off on Friday, July 17, 2026.

For the opening concert in Altona, Kawai Europe has secured one of the most promising artists of the younger generation: the German-Czech pianist Robert Bily.

Despite his youth, Robert Bily—winner of the prestigious New York Prix Vendôme—has already garnered over 70 international awards.

His worldwide concert activities include performances at the Salzburg Festival, in the Berlin Philharmonic, as well as collaborations with renowned orchestras and impulses from musicians such as Emanuel Ax.

For his Hamburg audience, the soloist has curated a demanding and stylistically diverse program that spans from the Romantic era to the modern age. Alongside a selection of Scherzos and Mazurkas by Frédéric Chopin, Bily will perform impressionist masterpieces by Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. The concert concludes with a contemporary work by the French composer Henri Dutilleux.

Experience Robert Bily—the highly talented pianist featured in our Kawai concert series in Hamburg—and join us for this concert on Friday, July 17, at 7:00 PM in the concert hall of the Alfred Schnittke Academy Hamburg.
