Under the direction of Emanuel Dantscher, Orchester'91 presents two outstanding works of twentieth-century Russian music. The concert opens with the Violin Concerto, featuring award-winning soloist Fanny Fheodoroff, who has performed at international venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall and Musikverein Wien. She describes the work herself: »There are few works shaped by such contrasting narratives and such a variety of characters. I imagine the solo violin as the heroine of an adventurous journey, venturing into musical worlds that are dance-like, Romantic, dark and untamed. For me, the second movement is the heart of the work and one of the most beautiful slow movements in the violin repertoire.«
After the interval, Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony unfolds its expansive late-Romantic soundscape. Broad melodic arcs, passionate climaxes and finely crafted orchestration characterise the work. Rachmaninov combines emotional immediacy with an intricately woven musical structure. Orchester'91 invites audiences to an evening of virtuoso energy, lyrical intimacy and powerful symphonic emotion.
