Neil Young’s music takes centre stage this evening. His songs speak of new beginnings and loss, of memory, longing and those moments when an entire life can be reflected in a single song. The starting point is Navid Kermani’s story »The Book of the Listeners Slain by Neil Young«, about a young family whose newborn daughter can only be lulled to sleep by the music of Neil Young.
Please note: The event will be held in German.
With a light touch, Kermani weaves the everyday life of a young family into the world of Neil Young. The music becomes a resonating space for love and transience, for growing older, for longing and for those fleeting moments when life suddenly seems complete.
Ludwig Blochberger makes the text and the songs his own in a very personal way. In his passionate solo performance featuring guitar, vocals and harmonica, the songs are far more than mere musical interludes. They pick up on themes, carry moods forward and lend the narrative its own momentum. The result is an immediate, moving evening in which narrative and music intertwine quite naturally – carried by a palpable passion for Neil Young.
