In keeping with tradition, the Czech Symphony Orchestra Prague and the Coro di Praga will be performing one of the most monumental works in music history at the Laeiszhalle: Carl Orff’s choral work »Carmina Burana«, which made the composer famous overnight in 1937.
The magical pull of the rhythm and the multi-coloured composition of the instruments, including all kinds of percussion and piano, make »Carmina Burana« popular to this day. In 1937, Carl Orff composed this work to Latin, Middle and Old High German songs that were found in the Benediktbeuren monastery. Contemporary harmony is combined here with elements of medieval music.
