The Mercado in Altona invites you to the nature and animal adventure weeks from February 4th to 25th. Under the motto “Nature & Animals”, the Ottenser shopping center becomes a green jungle oasis. Visitors can expect a free exhibition with a focus on sustainability, animal and environmental protection.
Hamburg organizations such as NABU, Greenpeace, Honey Heroes, Kids & Co. and Nutzmüll eV present themselves with campaigns and participation offers. Nutzmüll eV offers workshops in which old and second-hand clothing is printed with animal and plant motifs.
A special highlight: This year, animal expert André Weseloh is once again inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of reptiles, insects and spiders. As a renowned animal trainer for film and television, whose protégés have already starred in crime scenes, he explains the animals' natural habitats. In natural biotope terrariums, he introduces tarantulas, praying mantises, iguanas and geckos and explains what needs to be taken into account when dealing with nature and animals.
Weseloh offers guided tours and answers questions from guests during the nature and animal adventure weeks from Monday to Friday at 10 and 11 a.m. Kindergarten groups and school classes are also welcome on the free tours. Registration is possible at the Mercado info point.
The “Nature & Animals” exhibition at Mercado Altona can be visited during regular opening hours, Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
