Fairytale magic, sonic fantasy, and profound emotion: As part of the Martha Argerich Festival, a concert program brimming with poetic contrasts unfolds in the Grand Hall of the Laeiszhalle.
With Bohuslav Martinů’s colorful trio, the flute, cello, and piano open up a dialogic soundscape, before Maurice Ravel’s »Ma mère l’oye« conjures up fairy-tale worlds through the four-handed magic of Martha Argerich and Baruch Meir. The first part concludes with Leoš Janáček’s rhythmically dazzling “Concertino,” which poignantly combines chamber music virtuosity with surprising timbres.
After the intermission, a special musical moment: Martha Argerich and Mikhail Pletnev will perform a work for two pianos, turning it into an intense dialogue. Which piece it will be remains a secret!
