An evening brimming with passion, dialogue, and musical intensity: As part of the Martha Argerich Festival Hamburg, the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie will come alive with »worlds of sound« full of electrifying encounters.
At the center is Martha Argerich, who, together with Mischa Maisky, Gil Shaham, Lyda Chen, and Sascha Maisky, forms a world-class ensemble for Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E-flat Major. With this outstanding lineup, this work of radiant energy becomes a rousing celebration of timbres.
The evening opens with the dramatic force of Robert Schumann’s »Manfred« Overture and concludes with Johannes Brahms’ Double Concerto in all its emotional depth and chamber-music sophistication—an intense dialogue between Gil Shaham’s violin and Dai Miyata’s cello. Conductor Sylvain Cambreling leads the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra.
