For nine years, LURUPINA has been the leading festival for contemporary circus arts in Northern Germany, presenting international productions and regional acts in Hamburg-Lurup. Experience an inspiring weekend of innovative circus performances, workshops, exhibitions, and encounters in a friendly neighborhood atmosphere – admission is free and shows take place in the Grand Chapiteau and on open-air stages.
The LURUPINA Circus Festival is organized by Lichtwark-Forum e.V. and has received support from the Hamburg-Altona District Office in recent years. It enjoys strong recognition throughout the region.
The festival kicks off on Friday with the spectacular LURUPINA Gala, where all artists showcase highlights from their performances. From Saturday on, the festival grounds are open with a diverse program: international premieres from Scenic Circus (“Diaries in Motion”) and Less Kuerdas (“DRIFT”), youth and regional circus groups, Cirque de Quartier, live music, hands-on activities, and exhibitions. A special highlight is the record release concert by Microphone Mafia.
