A call for a radical rethink in politics and society. The Collien Fernandes case has shaken Germany – and at the same time laid bare, in all its brutality, just how commonplace male violence against women is: online and offline, physical, psychological, in public and in private. It has also shown how inadequately the German legal system protects affected women, and just how wide the gap between public outrage and political action still is.
Please note: The event will be held in German.
Entrepreneurs, authors and activists Kristina Lunz and Düzen Tekkal refuse to accept this. Together with politician Ricarda Lang, they launched the nationwide campaign »In Solidarity with Collien Fernandes«, which has attracted widespread attention and is supported by more than 250 women from the worlds of politics, culture, the media, business and civil society. The resulting petition sets out ten specific demands against male and digital violence – and mobilised hundreds of thousands of supporters within a very short space of time. In their book »Who gave you permission to hate women so much?«, Lunz and Tekkal show that violence against women is not a marginal issue, an isolated incident or a private tragedy, but a structural problem.
