Katharina Grosse is best known for her radical, expansive in-situ painting, in which she paints over architecture, interiors, and entire landscapes, creating intense, tactile environments. Her bold, large-scale works offer an immediate physical experience that awakens viewers to a new understanding of our relationship to places and to one another.

From June 5 to September 14, the Deichtorhallen Hamburg will present the installation "Wunderbild," one of the artist's major works, along with a new environment designed specifically for the exhibition. The exhibition will be complemented by selected canvas works and never-before-seen drawings and sketchbooks. A world premiere will also be the making-of film, which offers exclusive insights into Katharina Grosse's artistic work.

With WUNDERBILD, Katharina Grosse transforms the 3,000 square meter contemporary art gallery into a room-filling work of art that combines painting, sculpture, and architecture. Measuring over 60 meters in length, Wunderbild presents itself as an imposing enfilade of paintings on loose fabric panels suspended from the ceiling on two sides. Originally developed for the National Gallery's Trade Fair Palace in Prague, the artist has reimagined the monumental installation in Hamburg and complemented it with a sound composition by Stefan Schneider, specially developed for the exhibition. In this way, she creates a unique, immersive color and sound experience.

Another highlight is the earthwork in the rear section of the hall – a new work developed specifically for the exhibition at the Deichtorhallen. For this, Katharina Grosse transforms the exhibition space into a walkable hilly landscape in which the earth becomes a canvas, creating a striking contrast to the large, hanging fabric panels of the "miracle image."
