Between comedy and contemplation, city and spirit: »Büschen Meschugge – Auf[er]stehen« opens the doors in the Recital Hall of the Elbphilharmonie – an evening that freshly stirs up Hamburg’s present through Jewish survival art, North German serenity and Mahler’s early sound cosmos. The Jewish Chamber Orchestra Hamburg ignites a panorama ranging from arranged classical music to jazz, from liturgical breath to stage wit – an open, pointed narrative about resilience, Tikkun Olam and the courage to set out on a new journey. An evening that deliberately collides contrasts: world premieres of today meet arrangements from 200 years of Jewish music history, choir meets jazz set, Mahler miniatures meet poetry & stand-up – layered, crossed, reimagined, with Jewish humour and a clear North German edge. Curated. Daring. Surprising. And always with only one goal: to make resurrection tangible and experiential.
