The practice of seasoning food dates back to the ancient Egyptians, more than 4,000 years ago. Herbs are meant to round out the flavor of prepared dishes and emphasize their unique characteristics. We eat with our eyes, and herbs can also serve as garnishes, even in the form of blossoms. However, excess can detract from enjoyment and health, as is the case with ginger, pepper, salt, and so on. Proper seasoning, on the other hand, contributes to a positive outlook and aids digestion.
