»German Brass turns brass into gold«, wrote one critic enthusiastically about what is currently considered the best brass ensemble in the world. The ten top musicians are all members of the best German orchestras, such as the Berlin Philharmonic with Andre Schoch and Klaus Wallendorf, or they hold top professorships at institutions such as the Hans Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin, like Matthias Höfs, who was already principal trumpeter of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra at the age of 18. Another critic wrote that German Brass is the Rolls Royce of brass ensembles! And as if that weren’t enough superlatives, German Brass has been around for 50 years, which is almost an eternity for a music ensemble, as it means carefully integrating new and younger members into the ensemble without losing an ounce of musical quality.
