This course is an invitation to take a closer look at the complex coordination of walking and to familiarise yourself with biomechanical aspects. The anatomy and coordination of the body during locomotion are examined and, using information from the Axis Syllabus, walking habits are scrutinised and possibilities for change are explored. Movements such as swinging, swaying and rotation, which take place with every step, are playfully translated into dance movements. The purposeful movement of walking, which is often taken for granted, is used as a source for artistic and choreographic moments.
