Anglicist and photographer Kai-Uwe Küchler has not merely dusted off his successful multimedia presentation »Cornwall and the South of England«, but thoroughly revised and updated it, bringing it to life anew with fresh stories, images and encounters.
Cornwall is more than rugged cliffs and postcard-perfect scenery – and that is precisely what Küchler reveals with a keen eye, British humour and enviable insider knowledge. As an Anglicist, he knows not only the language but also the mentality of the island’s inhabitants. As a photographer, he brings the spectacular coastal landscape to life: dramatic cliffs, turquoise-blue sea, golden beaches and narrow walking paths high above the waves – including a particularly beautiful stretch of the South West Coast Path.
Among the highlights is an invitation that does not come every day: a genuine English aristocrat opens the doors of his country house to the photographer – for three hours, including stories, family anecdotes and the ceremonial revelation of where the house’s most important painting hangs. Very British. A detour to Dartmoor, with its ponies, vast landscapes and touch of mystery, is also not to be missed – not least because the »Hound of the Baskervilles« makes an appearance here.
This multimedia presentation is not a dry travelogue, but an entertaining, knowledgeable and affectionate tribute to one of the most fascinating regions of Great Britain. Informative, witty and personal – carried by an equally knowledgeable and humorous live commentary, with a guaranteed dose of wanderlust.
